Details:
Welcome to the Brooklyn Arts District
A dynamic and thriving neighborhood, The Brooklyn Arts District is home to a diverse mix of event and entertainment venues, art studios, retail shops, restaurants, neighborhood pubs, breweries, and contemporary luxury housing.
The Brooklyn Arts District Collective is a coalition of business owners within The Brooklyn Arts District dedicated to fostering community engagement, organizing events, and implementing initiatives that support the growth and success of local businesses.
Social District
Wilmington City Council has approved the city’s first social district in the Brooklyn Arts District. Beginning in October, patrons will be permitted to purchase alcoholic beverages from participating establishments and enjoy them while walking within the district on the first and third Saturdays of each month, as part of a six-month trial period. The social district will run from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The establishment of the social district represents a significant economic advancement for both the Brooklyn Arts District and the downtown area. It is expected to drive increased foot traffic, foster growth for local businesses, and enhance one of the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods.
Beverages must be purchased from participating businesses and consumed within the designated district boundaries, which will be clearly marked with signage. Social District drinks must be finished and disposed of before entering another ABC-permitted restaurant or bar–it’s illegal to bring in outside drinks from one bar to another. Guests will receive branded, recyclable cups for their beverages, ensuring compliance with state laws and local regulations. Patrons of the social district must be 21 years of age or older and carry a valid photo ID at all times.
